A recent conversation has been bugging at my thought strings. I grew up essentially in two different families or in two rooms of the same family might be a better way to put it. One went to church every Sunday said grace before all meals and ate dinner together every day. The other never went to church except weddings and funerals and managed a meal together occasionally. Is going to church or faith the reason the one family also bonded daily with meals. and is a lack of such bonding the reason the other skipped out on church?
Does the lack of that bonding in today's society leave us with the problems we now have.

Would you rather live with people that believe in a higher power God if you will, or one that thinks this is it.
and do those different ways of living predict belief or not.
I made a trip to Rochester to have Pik BAER tested this week just wanted to be sure he really is being a turkey and he really is just being a turkey. But now the game is up an he knows it. It is funny how once a seed is planted in your mind how it can grow and you just cant get the idea out. I know he hears me now, I have always thought he could but what if. Can't really blame him for not listening all the time if he can't listen. He stops a lot better with the question and wondering out of my voice. Some of our beginner and novice students are really springing into spring with better understanding and outruns to go with it, very proud of you all. My Collie ladies have gone from zero to not bad in just the winter. I expect them to do very well in the first trials this spring. Perk and Cris are driving in the small field, Lori and Teka are driving a large group of sheep pretty darn good. I really like doc's kelpie. My Flock is really showing the lambs to come in April with full bellies all around. Over the winter Gnat found new meaning in some of her commands so I am working on changing our vocabulary a bit ( if I could run faster and she blew the whistles it might work better). But seriously she is showing me some of her best work ever and I think she knows it. Scout is stretching out her outruns and driving a bit now that we have some bigger spaces to work in.
Just a darn good week. And its only march
We added a new pup to the pack. I dont have a pic of her yet she is looking for a name ( Little bit ) wont do for a proper BC name. Thinking Fry for small Fry. She is almost all black tiny white collar and white paws and a little dash on the tip of her nose very full of spunk. She is from the Dee X Lynne litter.
I was able to get some long outruns for some student dogs and a few of my own. by the next day at noon the window had closed and we are snowed and drifted in again. Hopefully this time it wont last as long. I like snow but only the kind that I make.

We are getting a good show of hands for the novice fun trials. I should have an entry form up soon.
This also helps you Open and Nursery handlers wanting to get to the Finals in time to get settled in for the big one. The order of the classes below reflects this.

Friday Nursery 7am followed by Open 1 followed by Nursery 2
Saturday Nursery 3 am followed by Open 2 followed by Pro-Novice 1
Sunday Pro-Novice 2 followed bu Novice 1 and 2
Lucky for me today is not a hay feeding day for the big group. Will be using the round pen sheep today for a little bit . I want to work some of the dogs even in the cold. Have a wind mil to haul home and take apart that aught to be fun. I cut it down very gently in December at the ski hill. I hope it will be good enough for pond aeration. Its a project but I always wanted one. .
March is always wet snow and mud. Many of our herding guests have commented that its 3 to 5 degrees cooler here on top than it is at the bottom of the mountain. Apparently our meager 550 foot bump in the road does have some mountain characteristics. but having said that, its still to hot to train after about 10 in the morning. We have had to cancel the last two evenings of practice. The nice thing about summer here on top is, it won't last. The days are already getting shorter.BYBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09758642537841041427noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4438021894267202418.post-55914656744494427102009-05-19T05:25:00.000-07:002009-05-19T05:40:38.915-07:00SimonSimon, The unsung hero of the bluegrass novice field.
